ROSA R6 should be released in few days (currently ISOs are in QA)
ROSA Fresh, from R1 to R4 was based on a core called rosa2012.1:
the base of rosa 2012.1 was used for two years
ROSA Fresh from release R5 is based on a core called rosa2014.1:
this should be used as the current base for two years, upto end 2016
rosa2014.1 starts serving ROSA Fresh R5, then R6, R7 and so on...
dsch писал(а):Suppose someone has several systems and is considering reinstalling their OS and re-configuring them.
It is very annoying to see a new release out 3-4 days after finished.
Every Rx can be updated to the following Rx+1, in this easy way R5 will become R6, R6 will become R7, simply updating it
There is no worry of changes, because are only safe updates
If you want to install from a freshly released ISO, there are available "daily ISOs",
the product category for ROSA KDE is #86
These have an automatic basic test, but there may be rare issues, none QA for these,
and none official support...
In my experience, I've installed from these, the most of these ISOs are good enough!
There are other different product, rosa2014.1 core based, some of these are Community projects,
you can download ISOs with Gnome, Lxde, LxQt, others, you can access to all of these ISOs from:

About Your questions:
- ROSA R6 will use the well tested LongTerm Kernel 3.14 LTS
but is possible to install newer kernels, adding kernel personal repositories,
you can find kernels ranging from 3.15, 3.17, 3.18 LTS, 3.19, 4.0, 4.1 LTS
Kernel Farm for ROSA... from this Topic you can be updated with the kernels
http://forum.rosalab.ru/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=1223
at the latest msg, you can read about the current kernel, now is 4.1.2 LTS
http://forum.rosalab.ru/viewtopic.php?f ... 200#p47431
Be carefull that the new kernels could not be satisfied by the proprietary drivers,
so, If you use any /non-free dkms as nvidia, ati, broadcom, there may be troubles,
before try a new kernel is better to verify driver versions with kernel compatibility,
instead, if you use free open drivers, there are none troubles with newest kernels.
- KDE Plasma 5 is still too young, too unstable, to be the base of R6 KDE
(There is the chance to test the Plasma 5, but we don't suggest this as daily use)
- When ROSA will jump officially to Plasma 5, the most of ROSA stuff
should be updated
- The theme for R6 is the same of R5, apart small changes in the bar,
some fixes into icons, other small thing...
I've heard that new ROSA stuff and theme elements shoud be updated for Plasma 5
