Hello,

yesterday, on 3.1.2017 My ROSA R8 offered me package updates, so I installed them (around 60 updates, I don't remember exactly). Then I turned off PC. Today morning I started PC and I got black screen with only mouse cursor. I am not more able to login to KDE. I use Rosa R8 64bit with Plasma 5, kernel 4.8.14, NVIDIA proprietary driver 375.26 from NVIDIA website. All was working fine till yesterday's updates. I did no other modifications to my system.

I checked errors via dmesg, no found. I checked services via systemctl, all running fine. I tried to restart sddm.service, no help. Still black screen with mouse cursor. So now I have only console and PC is unusable. Please help!!! Is it known issue? What logs should I provide or what to check more? Is there a way how to rollback yesterday's updates to make the PC usable immediately?

Thanks.

So I found the root cause. I reinstalled proprietary NVIDIA driver using installer (downloaded in the past from NVIDIA website) and after reboot all is fine now. So it seems there was some conflict between proprietary NVIDIA driver installation and Rosa updates delivered on 3.1.2017 (I checked them and there were 65 updated packages).

Yes, some other users reported similar issues.

For some reason, the updates from "main updates" repository were not synced properly from abf-downloads.rosalinux.ru to mirror.rosalab.ru, the ones from "non-free updates" repository might have suffered from that as well. As our admins say, the problem should now be resolved. So, you can try the update again and see how it works. Setting up graphics with XFdrake tool ("Configure graphics card") should now work as well.
